A few words from the artist
"Painting for me is an endless journey of exploration through time, nature and life. I am inspired by nature, man, the sea, the wonderful Greek villages, the beautiful island landscapes with the boats moored in the harbor and the fishermen mending their nets, the fruit on the table, a gift from nature, the man who toils to earn his living in the fields, at sea, in the mountains. As a child, I was fascinated by what I saw around me. I wanted to keep forever not only what my eyes saw, but especially what I felt and what they gave birth to - what I saw - in my soul. The taste and smell of fruit, the smell of grass and flowers, the serenity of the sunset and the boat moored in the harbor, the labor of man in the field, the beauty of youth and childlike innocence, the magic of life, people and nature. All this and so much more I try to keep alive in memory and time and with the brush to give them a place in the hearts of people who are moved by seeing them."

The artist
The painter Charalambos Zacharopoulos was born in 1959 in Agrinio, where he maintains his artistic workshop. He is a member of the Greek Chamber of Arts in the painting department. Over a long period of more than 45 years, he has held 15 solo exhibitions and participated in 40 group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.
In 1993, he published a poetry collection in a book and many of the poems in the collection have been set to music.
17 works by the artist have been featured on the cover of a corresponding number of issues of the newspaper’s magazine, Anagelia.
The artist was the inspirer and member of the organizing committee of the group exhibition of Aitoloakarnania artists. The exhibition took place in 2021 and continues to this day, every two years, organized by the Municipality of Agrinio.
In 2024, as part of the celebrations in honor of the patron saint of Agrinio, Saint Christopher, the Municipality of Agrinio inaugurated the first permanent school art gallery in Greece at the 2nd Primary School of Agrinio. The gallery exhibits 44 works by the artist Charalambos Zacharopoulos. This is a permanent exhibition entitled “Journey through Time”, open to the public and school visits, an effort by the artist to introduce children to the world of art from a very early age. Works by the same artist also adorn public spaces and private collections in Greece and abroad.

His work as a collector
In addition to being a painter, he is a collector of works of art by renowned Greek and foreign artists. The Municipality of Agrinio in collaboration with the Agrinio Municipal Art Gallery held an exhibition of paintings at the Papastrateio Museum of Agrinio from 6-4-2025 to 10-5-2025, in which part of the private collection of Ch. Zacharopoulos, 80 works, was exhibited, entitled “Greek Painters 1880-2000”.
Journey
The painter Ch. Zacharopoulos, having traveled a long path in the field of art, continues to enrich his knowledge in the vast field of art, continues to be inspired by everything around him and tries to capture it on canvas and take us on a journey into the magical world of art.
